While CT and CT angiography have been the workhorses to diagnose, evaluate or rule out heart disease, MRI has evolved as a viable tool for heart imaging. MRI provides detailed information about the type and severity of heart disease with exceptional soft tissue imaging in order to help guide therapeutic decisions. An additional benefit is the elimination of radiation exposure for MRI scans, which is particularly important for pediatric patients. An emerging trend in this evolving field is a specialized suite including both an MRI and a Cath lab for combining the advantages of X-rays and MRI in one advanced suite. This specialized suite can be used for the diagnosis, evaluation and intervention of patients with congenital heart disease.
The Zephyr IR family of patient hoverboards offers two different patient transfer hoverboards to meet the unique clinical requirements of Interventional Cardiovascular MRI. Each system provides a safe, secure and efficient means of transferring patients between the Cath lab and MRI imaging.
