Last week, we had a wonderful time at the ESTRO Anniversary Congress in London.  We highlighted our flagship product, the Zephyr hdr Patient Transport System for HDR Brachytherapy, as well as provided marketing information for our other product families.  To all those who stopped by our booth, thank you!  We truly enjoyed meeting new friends and renewing existing friendships.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, September 16, 2010 – Diacor’s Zephyr Patient Transport System is fast becoming an essential tool to safely and accurately move brachytherapy patients during treatment.

Released at the 51^st ASTRO meeting in November 2009, the Zephyr Patient Transport System has been evaluated and adopted by treatment facilities in Asia, Europe and North America. These facilities rely on the system to scan and treat patients in the same position and minimize the risks of applicator or needle movement.

The Zephyr Patient Transport System uses air-bearing technology to easily transfer patients laterally and longitudinally from CT couch top to patient stretcher to HDR Brachytherapy table. This minimizes changes in implant geometry during patient transfer.

“In most therapy settings, patients are moved from a CT scanner to an HDR brachytherapy setting multiple times,” says Glenn Waterman, president of Diacor. “The Zephyr system maintains consistency of treatment and seed position by minimizing patient movement during these transitions. It’s better for the patient and safer and easier for the therapist.”

After years away from exhibiting at a European radiation oncology conference, Diacor returned to exhibit at ESTRO 29 held in beautiful Barcelona, Spain from September 12th through the 15th.  The European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology is the premier event for radiation oncology in Europe and Diacor was honored to be a part of the technical exhibits.

Diacor exhibited our Zephyr Patient Transport System and received high reviews from conference attendees.  We also provided information on the rest of Diacor's product families - our Centralite Patient Alignment Lasers, MammoRx Patient Immobilization Systems, CT Overlays, and Integra Head and Neck Systems.

Diacor is pleased to announce that Al Haddad Medical became Diacor's newest global distributor.  Based in Jeddah, Saudia Arabia, Al Haddad Medical will represent Diacor's Centralite Patient Alignment Lasers, MammoRx Breast Immobilization Systems, Zephyr Patient Transport System, and CT Overlays.  Diacor looks forward to working with Dr. Reda Al Haddad and his team in the weeks and months ahead.

DEGRO opened this past Thursday, June 3, 2010, with an opening reception and the first chance to view the new Zephyr Patient Transport System from Diacor at a major European trade show for radiation therapy.  Mike Koger, Product Specialist for the Zephyr, traveled to Magdeburg, Germany to support Diacor's exclusive distributor for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland - HEK Medical.  After the first full day of DEGRO, it sounds like the Zephyr has been a hit with conference attendees. 

In addition to the Zephyr, HEK Medical has product information on all of Diacor's other product families - Centralite and Centralite CT Patient Alignment Lasers, MammoRx Breast Immobilization Systems, Integra Head and Neck Immobilization, and CT Overlays for CT SIM.

In partnership with our German, Austria, and Switzerland distributor, HEK Medical GmbH will have on display at this year's DEGRO the Zephyr Patient Transport System.  The Zephyr is designed to ease patient transfer of HDR patients while at the same time minimize movement of applicator or needles in relationship to the implanted area.

The American Brachytherapy Society's Annual Meeting was held from Thursday, April 29th through Saturday, May 1st in Atlanta, GA.  Diacor was pleased to participate in the event and exhibited our latest product for the HDR Brachytherapy community - the Zephyr Patient Transport System. 

The Zephyr solves the patient transfer dilemma plaguing most radiation oncology centers that are trying to adopt CT data images in to their HDR treatment planning. In addition to easing patient transfer between OR, CT and the HDR Brachytherapy suite,  the Zephyr also minimizes movement of the applicators or needles in relationship to the implanted area.
